Biscuit Star

Biscuit Star

This Starfish doesn't look anything like any biscuit we know, so we are not entirely sure how it got its name.

Eleven Armed Seastar

Eleven Armed Seastar

When we researched this seastar, we didn't think it could possibly be an Eleven Armed Seastars as it only has 9 arms. We stupidly thought that Eleven Armed Seastars would have 11 arms. Actualy they can have any number from 7 to 14 arms - so this is a 9 armed Eleven Armed Seastar, Confused?... we are.

Football Anemone

Football Anemone

Anemone's are known as the flowers of the sea and as such hold little interest for most blokes. Although these are carniverous flowers that eat through their anus, they're still too pretty to capture our imagination.

Jewel Anemone

Jewel Anemone

Anemones are considered the flowers of the ocean, named after their beautiful namesakes on land. There are over 1000 varieties and they come in all shapes and colours.

Monster Anemone

Monster Anemone

The biggest Anemones we've ever seen in Sydney have all been in Mosman. We're not too sure why they chose Mosman. (Not that there's anything wrong with the place - we've heard it's a lovely place to live.)

Sea Hare

Sea Hare

Sea Hares have a secret defence - when threatened, they squirt a bright purple cloud of ink. They probably got the idea from squid, however we’re not convinced the Sea Hare’s defence is quite as effective.

Sea Urchin

Sea Urchin

It’s not surprising that sea urchins are covered in sharp spines, everyone wants to eat their gonads. They’re served up in the finest restaurants around the globe.

Soft Coral

Soft Coral

You don't normally associate Sydney with Coral. However you would be surprised how much healthy Coral there is in Sydney - especially the Soft Coral pictured here.

Sponge

Sponge

It does seem a little wierd that we would kill an animal, let it decompose and then use it to clean ourselves with - that's what we do with sponges. It is probably lucky that other creatures aren't quite so soft when they're dead.

Sydney Scorpionfish

Sydney Scorpionfish

In 2004 a new species of fish was discovered that is thought to be only found in Sydney Harbour - the Sydney Scorpionfish.
