Blue Striped Goatfish

All Goatfish have fleshy barbels on their chin that give them a bit of a goatee look. They use their 'goatee' to dig in the sand and detect their next meal - a very useful 'goatee' indeed.

The most common goatfish in Sydney is the Blue Striped Goatfish, not to be confused with the almost identical Blue Spotted Goatfish. Both have blue spots and stripes - it's very confusing. To add to the confusion they can also change their colouring. Sometimes they're red and a few seconds later they're almost white. It's very, very confusing.
