Sergeant Baker

To our knowledge the Sergeant Baker is the only fish in the world that gets its name directly from the first recorded person who caught one… Sergeant Baker.

Not a day goes by when these poor fish are not reminded of that fateful day when their forefather was plucked from the ocean and served up for dinner.

We don't really think of the name today but it must have been a bit weird for the real Sergeant Baker, back in 1843. Imagine  hearing your mates say… " I really fancy eating Sergeant Baker tonight"
