Great White Shark

Like many of us, juvenile great white sharks like to head up to Port Stephens for their summer holidays. They lay claim to their favourite spot on the beach and spend the long summer days fishing for snapper and frolicking about in the surf.

Most human holiday makers are totally unaware of their presence. Fortunately, juvenile great white sharks will happily share the surf, unlike some surfers, which is why the only attacks that have ever been recorded in the area have been amongst humans.

The fascinating new findings about juvenile great white sharks migrating past Sydney by Dr Barry Bruce and his team at CSIRO can currently be seen on a new display at Sydney Aquarium.
