Pineapple Fish

It may be just a coincidence, but pineapple fish actually look like pineapples. Unfortunately as camouflage goes, this is not one of nature’s best and they have to spend their days lurking in the shadows to avoid being eaten. That's probably why they look so angry.

There’s a bunch of pinapple fish living in Sydney, but not surprisingly, very few people ever get to see them. They even hide at night, resorting to attracting their prey by emitting light from a spot on their jaw. Small unsuspecting fish, fooled by the trick, suffer the ultimate humiliation – being eaten by a pineapple. Nature can be oh so cruel.

We only saw one pinapplefish during our research and we missed the shot. However, as we still wanted to include it on this site, we've cheated a little and used a picture we took in Sydney Aquarium.
