Eastern Blue Devilfish

For some unknown reason an awful lot of fish are known as Devilfish. It’s the name often used to describe everything from manta rays to octopus, to stonefish and even grey whales. The least devilish of the lot is the Eastern Blue Devilfish that is found in Sydney. A shy and completely harmless fish found only in Australia.

Eastern Blue Devilfish are big (up to 40cm), have 'easy target' markings and like to hang out in the same spot for years on end... they're not exactly a spearfishing challenge, which is why they are now o
ne of our rarest and most endangered fish and fully protected by law. Maybe it's time we changed the name.
